Projects : Power Cables : Al Futaisy Inter-Island Submarine Cable System
The project involved the surface laying and subsequent post-lay trenching of a total of 34 medium voltage composite power cables in water depth from 0 to 17m as well as in areas which largely fall dry during low water.
The total cable length was 37km with individual cable lengths varying from 0.4km to 3.3km.
The submarine cable sections where loaded at the Pirelli Cavi e Sistemi manufacturing plant at Arco Felice in Italy after mobilization of the Coastal Spider in Ireland. After cable loading the Coastal Spider was towed by the MV Thomas de Gauwdief to Abu Dhabi, UAE.
To accomplish the project in an environmental difficult work area with high currents and heavy marine traffic, special installation methods were developed and applied during the execution of the project.

- Remotely Operated Trenching Vehicle Gator
- Sea Serpent Floatation System
