Projects : Offshore Wind Parks : Arklow Bank Offshore Wind Farm

14 km off the east coast of Ireland, Five Oceans Services took part in the construction of a pilot wind farm on the Arklow Bank. This scheme consists of seven wind generators, each capable of producing 3.6 megawatt. These GE Wind Energy (www.gewind.com) windmills stand over one hundred and twenty meters tall. Five Oceans Services was awarded the shore and infield cable installations, consisting of the laying and trenching of the power cables from shore to the sand bank and between each of the windmills, using the Cable Lay Barge ‘Coastal Spider’.

Five Oceans Services was also awarded the scour protection works for the wind farm, which it has been performing simultaneously with the lowering of J-tubes.

Additionally on behalf of our Client, Five Oceans Services dredged and maintained a channel, amounting to over 100,000 m³, to enable the windmill construction subcontractor access to two of the turbine locations.
