ARGE Mozambique Domestic Cable System was awarded by Alcatel Contracting to install the Mozambique Domestic Cable System, linking Maputo, Xai Xai, Inhambane, Vilanculos and Beira with 955km fibre optic cable.

The execution of the project took place in the period between November 2001 and February 2002.

Both equipment and personel presently operated and employed by Five Oceans Services carried out the installation works utilising various installation spreads and techniques:

In order to successfully complete the Mozambique Domestic Cable System Project, Five Oceans Services utilized specialized cable equipment. The equipment utilized included, but was not limited to:

  • Cable loading equipment
  • Cable lay equipment
  • Cable trenching equipment

In addition to the above, dedicated support equipment such as high accurate positioning systems (DGPS and USBL), as well as typical inspection and monitoring equipment ensured that a high level of confidence was achieved and maintained throughout the project.
